The Seafood Restaurant Tarbet named by Trout and
Salmon magazine as "The Restaurant at the End of the World"
has been in the Pearce family for the past 27 years when it was
Sutherland’s original seafood restaurant.
In 1994 Julian and Jackie Pearce bought the restaurant from Julian's
late mother Essie and continue to serve quality seafood dishes
that are caught by Julian and his son Adam on their fishing boat,
the Fulmar. Most of the excellent fayre is sourced locally where
ever possible and fresh salmon is provided by Loch Duart, the
first Freedom Food Accredited fish farm. Oysters and mussels are
also served when available. All meals are homemade by Jackie and
served to your table by daughters Lucy and Rebecca . For a sample
menu please see the 'Menu' page.
The restaurant holds a refreshment license offering you the opportunity
to enjoy a glass of beer or wine with your meal and then, as the
seals play and the sun sets over Handa Island why not relax with
a fine malt whiskey.
Over the years the restaurant has been featured in many publications
including the respective guide book Scotland the Best, The Sunday
Times, and it was also proclaimed by top seafood chef Rick Stein
on one of his Seafood Lovers Guide programmes.
For a truly memorable and unpretentious seafood experience the
Seafood Restaurant Tarbet is a must for all visitors to the area!
